Christian Education

Christian Education is responsible for ensuring opportunity for Christian study and growth for all ages.

Children's Educational Activities

  • Children In Worship

Every Sunday morning during worship, the children gather in the Children in Worship room.  The Children and Worship curriculum is designed for children ages 3 and up.  It is a great way to let the children experience the Word of God in a child friendly atmosphere.  After hearing a story the children have choice time to make a craft, read a story, tell a story or say a prayer.

  • Kids Summer Worship

During the Summer months we offer Kids Summer Worship which is much more laid back than Children In Worship.  The children still hear a Bible story and have time to make a picture or put a puzzle together.  If the weather is nice, the leader might take the kids outside to play.

  • Worship on Wednesday (W.O.W.)

Worship on Wednesday meets the second and fourth Wednesday (when Newaygo Public Schools are in session) September - March for dinner, Bible stories and games.

  • Vacation Bible School

We held "By the Sea of Galilee" on June 27-June 30, 6-8 p.m. at the Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ. So many important things in Jesus' ministry happened by the sea, we had a little piece of it in our sanctuary to help us tell some stories from the book of Mark.

Each evening, we explored these questions: Who is this man Jesus? Who followed him and why? Do I want to follow him and show others the way?

The children had an opportunity to sing, hear a story, express themselves through art, play games, and share a healthy snack.

Adult Christian Education Opportunities

The Adult Christian Education program will resume with a new class in February called "The Consolation of Imperfection".
The class will be held in the Prayer Room of NCUCC on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. beginning February 7, and concluding on March 27.
Here are the details:

"Living within our Limits-the consolations of Imperfection”
What happens when you have everything and it’s not enough? What happens when you keep trying yet you just don’t quite get there?
How can we live with the limits of the life and talents our choices and God have given us?
On the Tuesdays of February and March at 7 p.m., we will gather in the Prayer Room for a lively discussion on Donald McCullough’s
book “THE CONSOLATIONS OF IMPERFECTION”. Here is a week by week breakdown on the topics we will be looking at closely:
February 07-The Limits of our bodies
February 14-The Limits of our Relationships
February 21-The Limits of Knowledge
February 28-The Limits of Achievement
March 06-The Limits of Being Good
March 13-The Limits of Spirituality
March 20-The Limits of Romance
March 27-The Limits of Self-Confidence
